Ramayan’s Sita, Dipika Chikhlia, criticizes Ranbir Kapoor’s epic drama

Ramayan’s Sita, Dipika Chikhlia, has recently criticized Nitesh Tiwari’s epic drama of the same name starring Ranbir Kapoor.

According to the actress, India’s religious texts shouldn’t be tampered with in any way and the upcoming epic drama is just making a mess out of it.

She gave an interview for the same and highlighted her reasons as to why she feels that India’s epics should not be remade again and again.

Dipika lays out her reasons for reproducing India’s epics

In the interview, Dipika specifically mentioned her reasons as to why she doesn’t like the Ramayana being made again in today’s times. She says,

Honestly, I am quite disillusioned by people who keep making Ramayana because I don’t think you should be doing it. People are making a mess of it. I don’t think people should be making Ramayana again and again because every time they make it, they want to bring in something new; a new story, a new angle, a new look. Like for Kriti Sanon, they gave her a pink coloured satin. They gave Saif a different look because they wanted to do something different, creatively. But then what you’re doing is you’re spoiling that whole impact of what Ramayana is all about.

Adding further, Dipika says,

One should not tamper around with religious texts. I don’t think one should be doing it and just leave it aside. Just don’t do this. There are so many stories that you can talk about besides Ramayana. Speak about a lot of freedom fighters. There’s so much that one can talk about; unsung heroes who were valiant in history of freedom. Why only Ramayana?

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan to go on floors in 2027

According to the latest reports regarding the film, it has been stated that Ranbir is following a disciplined routine for Tiwari’s film. Additionally, he’s only eating a vegetarian diet and gymming rigorously to get the perfect body for the film.

Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are playing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in the upcoming epic drama. The picture of the two of them was shared two months ago when filming began.

Even Arun Govil and Lara Dutta are portraying some roles in the film and their looks have also been revealed.

If rumours are to be believed, then Govil and Dutta are playing King Dashrath and Queen Kaikeyi respectively. Apart from this, other actors like Bobby Deol, Vijay Sethupathi, and Sunny Deol can be seen portraying the roles of Kumbhkaran, Vibhishana, and Lord Hanuman respectively.

However, Tiwari has not given any confirmation regarding his cast and crew and wishes to keep it that way. But, speculations are on the rise regarding the same.

Even the budget of the film is extremely high and according to reports, it has been estimated at Rs. 835 crores because of the lavishness and opulence that Tiwari wants in his film.

Furthermore, the year for the release of the film has been decided and it will be released three years later.

The OG Ramayan starred Dipika Chikhlia as Sita alongside Arun Govil and Sunil Lahiri

Talking about the original Ramayan was made by Ramanand Sagar for television viewers back in 1987.

Originally written by Sage Valmiki and adapted by Sage Tulsidas as Ramcharitmanas, it depicts the story of Lord Vishnu’s seventh avatar, Lord Ram and His consort, Goddess Sita and teaches humanity the lesson of victory of good over evil.

With several shows and movies based on the epic in the media, Ramanand Sagar’s is still the best.

During the Covid pandemic, both the epics, Ramayan and Mahabharat were re-telecast for the audiences.

Even in 2020, audiences enjoyed the show like they did back in the 80s.

Dipika played Sita, Arun Govil played Lord Ram, and Sunil Lahiri depicted Lakshman. Late Dara Singh portrayed the role of Lord Hanuman in the famous show.

The audience gave all the actors back then all their love and reverence and even today they touch Govil’s feet.

Even Dipika is also remembered for her portrayal of Goddess Sita and people still admire her acting in the serial.
