Fardeen Khan thanks Kareena Kapoor for ‘Dev’ role on 20th anniversary

Fardeen Khan, who recently starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama, Heeramandi has thanked fellow actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.

His gratitude to Kareena is for the film ‘Dev’ which has completed 20 years in Bollywood and it was the actress herself who recommended Fardeen play the hero of the film.

The film was directed by Govind Nihalani and was a political action drama starring Fardeen, Kareena, and Amitabh Bachchan. The film was released in 2004.

Fardeen is all praises for Nihalani’s storytelling

The actor instantly took to his Instagram handle to share the happy news and put up a clip of the film wherein his character Farhaan Ali is saying some rather intense dialogues regarding religion and communal divide.

In the clip can also be seen Bachchan, Kareena, and the late actor Om Puri amidst gunshots and blasts. Fardeen captions this post by saying,

It was my third film with @kareenakapoorkhan and it was she who recommended me for the role, and I will always be grateful to her for that. Being signed by the respected Govind Nihalani for a film with legends like @amitabhbachchan and Om Puri was a huge endorsement for any actor. Govindji was highly respected and was known for his careful direction and powerful storytelling.

Fardeen reveals that he always idolised Amitabh Bachchan

Writing further in the post, Fardeen says,

This role gave me a chance to work on a film that was relevant and meaningful, which was rare at the time. But the greatest takeaway for me from DEV was getting to share the screen with Amitji, an actor I idolised. His life and most amazing career have had a profound influence on Indian cinema and has left an indelible mark on not just me but on every Indian. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a true honour and an absolute privilege to work with him, making it one of the highlights of my career.

Meanwhile, the other two films in which Fardeen and Kareena worked together were Fida released in the same year as Dev and Khushi a year earlier.
