Bhumi Pednekar struggled to fit into beauty standards

Bollywood actress, Bhumi Pednekar is now a big name in the industry because of her choice of films and fitness standards.

While she is now very confident, there was once a time when she struggled to fit into the perfect beauty ideals and showed a lack of confidence.

Bhumi has also admitted to it and stated that because of her struggles, she decided to turn to fashion, which gave her a big boost in her confidence levels.

Bhumi made fashion her friend and confidante

Speaking about turning towards fashion to bolster her confidence, Bhumi says,

When I was growing up, I struggled with feeling confident, especially because of the pressure to fit into certain beauty ideals. But instead of letting that define me, I turned to fashion as a form of self-discovery.

Adding further, she says,

As I’ve gotten older, my relationship and understanding of beauty and fashion have evolved.

Meanwhile, Bhumi is making waves in the entertainment industry regarding her fashion statements and giving twists to her fashionable looks.

Sharing further, she says,

It’s not just about looking good anymore or following trends- it’s about embracing my individuality, expressing my personality, and celebrating what makes me unique. Today, fashion and beauty are a medium through which I can express myself, my emotional canvas and my state of mind.

Bhumi Pednekar isn’t fond of chasing fashion

Additionally, Bhumi also stated that she is not making herself chase after certain fashion trends, she’s just loving the experimentation process.

I love experimenting. I just want to have fun with fashion and I think I’m doing this with all my heart which is why people are appreciating my fashion-forward turn. It is good when I can work both ends of the spectrum- from relatable to edgy fashion.

Bhumi recalls that people tried to fit her into certain beauty standards so that she could be boxed up into a type. The actress made her debut in YRF’s 2015 release, Dum Lagaa Ke Haisha, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. But, she stated that fashion pulled her out of that situation.

Reminiscing about her journey, Bhumi says,

People tend to box someone and it happened to me too. In maximum films that I have done so far, I have played a girl from a small town and that has set the perception that I can look amazing being this girl next door.

Adding further, she says,

I love that people like me that way. But my fashion turn is to shatter that perception and show people who I am and how I want to be seen. I’m a young, confident Indian woman who is expressing herself through fashion and I’m enjoying the love that my looks are getting.
