Baazigar 2 Update: Directors tease sequel with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar

Well-known director duo, Abbas-Mustan, credited with giving us some exciting thrillers over the decades, have given a new update.

Creating the super-hit film, Baazigar, back in 1993, the duo is now planning its sequel with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Meanwhile, in the original, Shah Rukh Khan played the main antagonist alongside actresses Kajol and Shilpa Shetty, the latter in her debut in Bollywood.

Baazigar follows the life of Khan who is out on a mission to kill the father of Kajol and Shetty, played by Dalip Tahil to avenge his father’s death. Now, the duo is planning to create a new story in the sequel.

After hearing the news, fans are extremely thrilled to watch the sequel and hope that the director duo gives them another hit movie with a captivating storyline. However, they have added another actor alongside Shah Rukh, and it’s none other than Akshay Kumar.

Abbas-Mustan express enthusiasm for creating a sequel to Baazigar

During a podcast interaction, Abbas-Mustan expressed excitement about creating a sequel to Baazigar. They have discussed the prospect as well.

When a fan prompted them about creating a sequel to the 1993 hit, the duo responded by saying,

Zaroor banayenge.

Furthermore, a fan also told them that both Shah Rukh and Akshay credit their success to the duo’s films that also earned them the monikers, ‘Baadshah’ and ‘Khiladi’ respectively. Thus, the fan wanted the duo to cast both of these actors in the sequel.

Responding to this request, Abbas-Mustan said,

Aapke paas kahani hai to dijiye. Zaroor banayenge.

Abbas-Mustan reveals interesting facts about Baazigar after 31 years

Even though the film was released 31 years ago, fans still don’t know many of its finer aspects. That’s why the director-duo in the same podcast decided to share some unknown trivia about their film.

The memorable scene of the film’s title song has Shah Rukh wooing Kajol on horseback, wearing a Zorroesque attire. However, Abbas-Mustan has revealed that this action was not done by Shah Rukh himself.

In reality, it was a body double of the actor, and the owner of the horse who did the scenes because Shah Rukh is afraid of riding horses. Clarifies Mustan regarding the memorable scene,

He was wearing a robe, a hat, and a mask on his face, and his eyes were covered. The horse riding was done by the horse owner, a body double.

Mustan further adds regarding the song,

When the song ends, when he turns and goes away from the camera, he is going down a slope, there is no horse there but Shah Rukh just acted as if he is riding a horse. No one can believe that he is not riding the horse. That’s how well he has performed.

Because of this creative genius, it was ensured that all the scenes were achieved iconically while also taking care of safety. This also maintained the film’s thrilling essence.

The film also marked Shah Rukh’s first anti-hero role and proved his capability as an actor with a diverse range, his ability to portray complex characters and his versatility to the audiences.

Because of the risk-taking factor, Shah Rukh has become a famous and well-respected Bollywood personality among his fans.

If Akshay is brought into the sequel alongside Shah Rukh, then fireworks are surely going to go in all directions.

Shah Rukh’s other anti-hero films besides Baazigar

Apart from playing an anti-hero in Baazigar, Shah Rukh played negative characters in several movies such as Darr and Anjaam. Even in 1992, he played an anti-hero in the film, Deewana and his co-stars were Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor.

It was in 1995 that he got to play a romantic positive hero in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge opposite Kajol. It became such a super hit that it is now considered a cult film by the fans.
